Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lagos, the macOS voice dictation application, and the trylagos.app website. By downloading or using Lagos, you agree to these Terms.

1. License

Lagos grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Lagos application on macOS devices you own or control, for personal and commercial purposes.

2. Permitted Use

You may use Lagos to:

  • Dictate text into any application on your Mac
  • Use any supported transcription engine, including your own API keys
  • Access and export your own transcription history

3. Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Lagos application
  • Use Lagos to record others without their consent (comply with local laws)
  • Attempt to bypass any technical limitations in the application
  • Resell or redistribute Lagos without permission

4. Third-Party Services

When using BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) features, you are interacting directly with third-party APIs (OpenAI, Deepgram, AssemblyAI, Google Cloud, Wispr Flow). You are responsible for complying with those providers' terms of service. Lagos is not responsible for third-party service availability or billing.

5. Lagos Pro (Coming Soon)

When Lagos Pro launches, additional terms will apply to the subscription service, including payment terms, fair use policies, and service level commitments. Those terms will be presented before you subscribe.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Lagos is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that Lagos will be error-free, that transcription accuracy will meet specific thresholds, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lagos and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the application.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms as Lagos evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated via in-app release notes.
